Summer allergies receive relief this week
Millions of Americans suffer from seasonal allergies, and for those whose allergies peak during the summer months, good news awaits you.
This weekend has been one for the books as far as temperatures are concerned. Highs have been nearly 10 degrees above average, with low humidity, and a light breeze.
This cool down comes on the backside of a cold front that brought us rain showers as we went through Friday, but it also set the stage for lower pollen counts the next several days.
With an additional frontal passage expected tonight, the cooler days in the 70s will stay with us. The cooler temps along with breezy conditions will keep pollen on the low side. And with rain expected to arrive as we head into Monday, the relief just keeps on arriving.
The top allergies this month is
– Grasses
– Plantain
– Nettle
So if you suffer from these allergies, the latter half of June will bring you wanted relief and allow you to freely walk outside able to breathe.
With pollen counts low, you may still see some side effects and allergists recommend following simple advice to get the greatest relief.
– Avoid hot, dry and windy days.
– Limit outdoor exposure between the hours of 5-10 am.
– Wash your clothes in water heated to at least 130 degrees Fahrenheit
– Use air conditioning instead of opening the windows, as it cleans, cools and dries the air.
– When traveling in a car, use the recirculation method.
