New trial date set for man charged in trooper’s death

A new court date has been scheduled for a man accused in the death of a state trooper.

Serghei Comerzan is charged with resisting arrest and second-degree murder for the death of Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper James Bava, who died in Audrian County after trying to pull Comerzan over in August 2015.

Comerzan’s new trial is set to begin Feb. 23, 2018, in St. Charles.

This comes after a mistrial was declared during his trial in May.
