Hot and humid through Wednesday evening
TODAY: A warm day is on tap for Mid-Missouri, as temperatures climb into the lower 90s. It wouldn’t be summer without some humidity, so temperatures today will actually feel like they are in the mid 90s through the day. Winds will gradually shift out of the south by late afternoon under 15 mph, increasing the humidity and bringing in more warmth.
TONIGHT: Temperatures will begin to fall into the upper 60s under mostly clear skies. Winds will remain out of the south under 10 mph.
EXTENDED: Temperatures will continue to climb through Thursday. Thanks to humidity not being as high, we’ll only see heat indices in the middle 90s through Thursday. The heat and increasing moisture set the stage for our next chance of storms by Thursday. We’ll likely see two rounds of rain. The first round comes in the early afternoon near I-44, as Tropical Storm Cindy tracks further to the north. This will bring few spot showers through the day. The second round of rain arrives through the evening hours from the northwest. This round of storms will be associated with a cold front tracking through Mid-Missouri. Any storms we do see have the potential for quarter size hail and winds up to 60 mph. The unsettled pattern looks to continue into the weekend as a secondary cold front tracks through the region kicking off spot showers through Sunday.
