Art Auer named interim county clerk
On Tuesday, at the Boone County Commissioners meeting, Art Auer was named interim county clerk after Wendy Noren quit unexpectedly.
Noren had worked as the county clerk for 30 plus years and quit last week.
“We chose Auer because he had worked in the office with Noren and had a handle on the office”, says the presiding commissioner, Dan Atwill.
Atwill also stated the commissioners had to find an interim county clerk fast because paychecks could not be sent out without him.
Auer will be especially important when the August election comes around.
Commissioner Fred Parry says Governor Eric Greitens will eventually pick a new county clerk and it will most likely be a republican, something Boone County has not seen in quite some time.
The interim position will be effective June 24.
