Early morning fire destroys Boone County home

A family was left homeless after a fire destroyed their trailer early Sunday morning at the 12000 block of Silver Fork Hill Road.

Boone County firefighters responded to the scene around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Firefighters said when they arrived the family was already out of the home and the trailer was fully engulfed with flames.

Firefighters said they used defensive tactics to fight the fire. They were at the scene for almost three hours.

Fire investigators will be back either later Sunday or Monday to try and determine the cause of the fire.

Firefighters said the family found a place to stay for the night, but they did contact the Red Cross just in case the family needed more help.
