Saturday holds high humidity & severe storm threat

TODAY: By the afternoon, our Saturday will be partly sunny and hot. Temperatures will reach the lower 90s and heat indices over 100 in the afternoon. Heat indices could climb as high as 107 in our western counties Saturday. There is a Heat Advisory for Benton, Camden, Cooper, Miller, Morgan, Pettis and Saline counties from 12 PM to 7 PM as well as Boone, Cole, and Moniteau counties from 1 PM to 7PM to due to highest heat indices of up to 105-107. By this evening, storms will increase north of I-70 ahead of a cold front and will spread south through the night. Storms will move through from 8 PM in our far northern counties to 2 AM near I-44. All of Mid-Missouri is under an Enhanced Risk for severe weather minus the southern halves of Pulaski and Phelps counties. These overnight storms could be severe with damaging wind and large hail the primary threats.

SUNDAY : Storms and rain will taper off as we head into Sunday morning. By the afternoon, conditions will cool off with lower humidity and temperatures in the lower 80s with a northwesterly breeze up to 12 mph . Skies will gradually clear out by the evening time leaving us with a pleasant end to our Father’s Day forecast.

EXTENDED: Dry weather will continue for the start of next work week with highs in the lower 80s Monday, climbing to the upper 80s Tuesday and Wednesday with a chance of storms returning Tuesday night and Wednesday.
