High winds reported from Friday night storms

Strong to severe storms pulled through Mid-Missouri late Friday night into early Saturday morning. A few Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued across the viewing area with high winds up to 60 mph the primary threat.

Storm reports were few in Mid-Missouri, but areas to our west received significant wind damage from several trees getting knocking down by straight-line winds. In Pettis County, 38 residents Sedalia residents were without power as 54 mph reported winds knocked down trees.

In Morgan County, people in Versaillles woke up to trees of unknown size knocked down; and in Phelps Country, the Lecoma township saw winds up to 55 mph around 3 AM Saturday morning.

Only three storm reports with issued in our viewing area, but we have another chance for severe weather by late tonight into early Sunday morning.

The primary threats with this next round of storms is damaging winds greater than 60 mph and large hail up to or greater than 1″ in diameter.

The chance for an isolated tornado is also a threat for areas north of I-44. These severe storms are expected to arrive in the northwestern portion of Mid-Missouri after 8 PM. They will continue to pull to the SE moving south of I-44 through the early morning hours on Sunday.
