Strong storms by late Friday night
TODAY: Friday will be another hot and muggy day with temperatures rising into the lower 90s and heat indices in the upper 90s under partly sunny skies. A heat advisory is in effect until 7 PM Saturday for Saline, Pettis, and Benton counties. Another round of strong to severe storms is expected to develop from the northwest and pull into Mid-Missouri by tonight and into early Saturday morning. A Slight Risk for severe weather is in effect for areas north of I-44. Damaging winds up or greater than 58 mph are the main threat with large hail also possible with these overnight storms.
SATURDAY : After morning storms push to the south, Saturday will be partly cloudy, hot & humid with highs in the low 90s and heat indices near 100 in the afternoon. Heat indices could climb as high as 107 in our western counties Saturday. There is a Heat Advisory for Saline, Pettis and Benton counties 12PM to 7 PM. Storms will increase Saturday evening north of I-70 ahead of a cold front and will spread south through the night. Areas along and north of I-70 are in an Enhanced Risk for severe weather. These overnight storms could be severe with damaging wind and large hail the primary threats.
EXTENDED: Rain ends Sunday morning as the cold front moves south, and cooler, less humid air moves in. High temperatures will stay in the low-mid 80s Sunday afternoon under partly cloudy skies.
