Severe storm threat Friday & Saturday nights
Two more rounds of storms are expected to move through Mid-Missouri before cooler, drier air moves in Sunday. Organized clusters of storms are expected to develop in eastern Kansas and Iowa Friday evening and travel southeast overnight. These are forecast to move south to HWY 36 in northern Missouri 10 PM to midnight, moving southeast to near I-44 by 8 AM Saturday. The severe threat is highest north of HWY 50 where there is a Slight Severe Risk.
As heat and humidity build across the area Saturday, a cold front will approach from northwest by evening, sending a line of storms into Mid-Missouri from 7 PM Saturday through 2 AM Sunday. Areas north of I-70 are in an Enhanced Risk of severe storms due to a greater chance of damaging winds of 58 mph or greater as the storms move in. Large hail is a lower threat. These storms will also produce heavy rain. Rainfall totals could reach 1.25″ Saturday night where strongest storms track.
