Another storm chance by late Thursday evening

TODAY: Another hot and humid day is in store with high temperatures in the lower 90s. Heat indices will be in the upper 90s by this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. By the evening hours, temperatures will remain warm in the lower 80s under partly cloudy skies. Winds will stay under 10 mph from the south. Areas to the west of US 63 may see a few scattered thunderstorms. This rain chance will pull to the southeast giving mid-Missouri the chance for some early morning rain.

FRIDAY: Early morning storms that develop will begin to taper off as we head into the mid-morning hours. Friday will be another hot and muggy day with temperatures rising into the lower 90s and heat indices in the mid to upper 90s. The chance for a few short-lived, afternoon storms are possible. Another chance for strong storms develops again Friday evening into the late night hours.

EXTENDED: Storm chances increase into Saturday morning but will move out early, leaving us with a partly cloudy, hot & humid afternoon Saturday. Highs will reach the low 90s with heat indices near 100 in the afternoon. Storms will increase Saturday night ahead of a cold front and could be severe with damaging wind and large hail the primary threats. Rain ends Sunday morning as the cold front moves south, and cooler, less humid air moves in. High temperatures will stay in the mid 80s Sunday afternoon under partly cloudy skies.
