Storm chances tonight and into the weekend
TONIGHT: Storms will increase north of I-70 through 1 AM then move southeast overnight to near I-44 by 7 AM Thursday. Isolated strong wind gusts & large hail and heavy rain will be possible with stronger storms. It will be muggy with low temperatures in the low 70s.
THURSDAY: After a chance of early morning storms near I-44, we’ll have another hot, humid day with high temperatures in the low 90s and heat indices in the mid to upper 90s under partly cloudy skies. Winds will stay under 10 mph from the southwest.
EXTENDED: Most areas will stay dry Thursday but we are watching for possible storms after 10 PM Thursday night through Friday morning. Although our best chance of storms is early in the day Friday, a few afternoon storms are also possible. If these develop, they could become strong or severe with strong wind gusts or large hail. It will remain hot and sticky Friday as high temperatures climb to near 90. Storm chances increase Friday night into Saturday morning but will move out early, leaving us with a partly cloudy, hot & humid afternoon Saturday. Highs will reach the low 90s with heat indices near 100 in the afternoon. Storms will increase Saturday night ahead of a cold front and could be severe with damaging wind and large hail the primary threats. Rain ends Sunday morning as the cold front moves south, and cooler, less humid air moves in. High temperatures will stay in the mid 80s Sunday afternoon under partly cloudy skies.
