Man arrested for attempting to set fire to RV with woman locked inside
A Camden County man was arrested with first degree arson, third degree assault and third degree resisting arrest/detention/stop by fleeing on Monday after trying to set an RV on fire with a woman locked inside.
A Camden County deputy was called to 155 Rabbit Road in Camdenton for a disturbance that was in progress.
When the deputy got to the scene, the victim and a witness told the deputy that the suspect, Wesley Ray Dickey, was in the woods. Dickey resisted arrest, but was eventually taken into custody.
According to the probable cause statement, the victim asked Dickey to leave the RV, when he became very upset and started to threaten to kill the victim. The victim said that she locked herself in the RV to get away from Dickey, and Dickey disconnected the power to the RV from outside.
The victim said that she laid down to rest when she smelled smoke. The victim called her neighbor, the witness, and said she smelled smoke. The witness went outside and saw Dickey lighting a piece of paper and trying to put it into the gas tank of the RV. When the witness tried to stop Dickey, Dickey assaulted him.
Dickey had an outstanding bond violation warrant felony for third degree assault and third degree endangering the welfare of a child in Camden County. Dickey was also found guilty of second degree assault in Dallas County in 1999 and served seven years in prison, found guilty of second degree assault in 2008 in Jackson County and served two years probation and found guilty of third degree assault in Dallas County in 2014 and served two years of probation, which was revoked in 2015.
