Retired Columbia Police K-9 Officer dies from natural causes

The Columbia Police Department announced the passing of retired K-9 Officer, Leah, on Sunday.

Leah was 12-years-old and passed away from from natural causes. Leah served with CPD for nine years.

Leah started her career with CPD in December 2006, working alongside her handler, Detective Ron Hall in the Vice Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit. Leah located nearly $4.5 million in money and drug seizures during her career.

When Leah retired in November of 2015, her handler said, “She is incredibly smart. It’s been a dream come true for me to be able to have worked with her for the last nine years. She is irreplaceable.”
