Karissa Schweizer wins third national title

EUGENE, Or. – In the weeks leading up to the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships, Mizzou’s Karissa Schweizer said she was nervous.

When she hit the track, she looked anything but nervous as she easily won her third national title. She won the women’s 5,000 meter with a time of 15:38:93.

Schweizer ran second and third for the first 10 laps. However, she sped up her pace in the final 7-8 laps and won comfortably.

Schweizer now joins J’den Cox as the only two Tigers two win three individual national titles. As a junior, Schweizer will have a chance to add more to her total next season.

Her teammate Gabi Jacobs also finished 5th in discus.
