Heat and humidity on the rise

TODAY: Waking up temperatures will be in the upper 50s. Temps will easily rebound back into the low to mid 80s by the afternoon with mostly sunny skies. Southerly winds will increase to near 10 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT: Clear skies will allow for the perfect opportunity to see tonight’s strawberry moon, also known as the mini moon. Temps will be slightly warmer through the night, only dropping into the low to mid 60s by the morning. A southerly wind will remain out of the south at 3 to 5 mph.

EXTENDED: It will start to feel even more humid as we head into the weekend and temperatures rise to near 90 both Saturday and Sunday. Heat index values this weekend are likely to be in the low to mid 90s as the humidity will make it “feel” more like summer. On Saturday we could see wind gusts up to 25 mph. These 90 degree temps will continue into Monday and Tuesday. During this time, overnight lows will stay in the 70s with muggy conditions. The humidity once again will cause heat indices to rise into the mid to upper 90s with highest heat indices in our northwestern counties. The best chance of storms comes next Wednesday and Thursday as a cold front drops into Mid-Missouri. For additional weather updates follow us @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter and like us on Facebook.
