Callaway County manhunt ends in arrest
UPDATE 11:44 P.M.: The man at the center of a Callaway County manhunt is identified as John Atterberry, 43, of Portland, Missouri.
Deputies said they responded to a report of suspicious activity around 3:27 p.m. at a home on State Highway UU.
Atterberry was captured at 6:48 p.m. near Wildflower Road off County Road 123.
He’s wanted for Callaway County and Warren County warrants for felony resisting arrest, felony domestic assault, felony narcotics violations, felony burglary and felony stealing.
Atterberry was also arrested for felony unlawful possession of a firearm, felony stealing and felony property damage.
Deputies said Atterberry was the suspect of an investigation near Portland on April 29, where he was able to escape arrest.
Atterbery is held in the Callaway County Jail without bond.
ORIGINAL STORY: A man wanted on several felony warrants has been arrested after a three-hour manhunt in Callaway County.
Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism told ABC 17 News the suspect was spotted near State Highway UU and County Road 113, near Fulton, Missouri, around 4 p.m Wednesday.
The suspect reportedly took off on foot. He was captured by Callaway County deputies around 7 p.m.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the search for the suspect.
Authorities haven’t released the man’s name or what charges he could face.
