One man dies after single-vehicle crash on Route E
UPDATE 6 p.m.: One man died in a vehicle crash Wednesday morning after he over-corrected and crashed into a tree on Route E, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report.
Troopers said Daniel Wertzberger, 30 and from Higbee, was driving south on Route E when he drifted off to the right side of the road, over-corrected and crossed over to the left side and struck a tree.
Wertzberger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Route E is a two-lane highway that has an average speed limit of 50 miles per hour.
According to statistics from the Missouri Department of Transportation, in 2015 there was a daily average of 2,906 drivers on Route E.
According to crash records, there were 21 crashes on Route E in 2015 with no fatalities and 21 in 2016 with no fatalities. So far in 2017 there have been six crashes on Route E with one fatality from the crash on Wednesday.
ORIGINAL STORY: Several emergency crews are on the scene of a fatal crash in north Boone County.
The call first came out around 8:11 Wednesday morning.
Dispatch records show at least eight emergency units are on the scene on Route E, southeast of Harrisburg.
Emergency responders tell ABC 17 News one person died in the single vehicle wreck.
