Illinois man arrested for multiple counts of burglary, sexual misconduct and assault

UPDATE 2:10 P.M.: According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Giacoletto suffered serious injuries after a crash on Monday.

Giacoletto was driving a 2015 GMC 2500 at a fast speed and failed to stop at a stop sign. He went off of the west side of I-70 and hit a ditch.

Giacoletto was taken to University Hospital for serious injuries, and the GMC was totaled.

ORIGINAL STORY: An Illinois man was arrested on Tuesday for first degree burglary, two counts of second degree burglary, first degree tampering, first degree sexual misconduct and fourth degree misdemeanor assault.

20-year-old Shane D. Giacoletto went to the front door of a residence in the 1200 block of Sutton Drive on Tuesday. Giacoletto tried to get inside the home but couldn’t. Giacoletto then walked to the rear of the residence and broke a glass door by throwing a vase he found on the back porch. After the glass in the door broke, an alarm went off and Giacoletto left. The homeowners gave police a video recording and pictures of Giacoletto at the front door.

Later on Tuesday, an officer was called to a burglary in the 1500 block of Fellows Place. The victim said when she returned home, she found the back sliding door broken and a pair of shoes that did not belong to her in the living room.

Officers checked the home and found clothing that did not belong to the victim in the upstairs bedroom. The victim said she noticed some of her husband’s clothing was missing.

Officers found a brick that was used to break the sliding door and searched the clothing that did not belong to the victims and found a Missouri State Highway Patrol citation issued to a Shane Giacoletto on Monday.

The victim reported a set of car keys to a 2008 Toyota Prius was missing from the kitchen table and the Prius had been stolen out of the parking lot.

Officers were were then called to a sexual misconduct at 4600 Forum Boulevard, Wilson’s Beach Club. According to two different witnesses, Giacoletto was seen sitting in a lounge chair with his hands down his pants and moving his hands up and down in an inappropriate manner.

The Prius was later located at Wilson’s Beach Club, where Giacoletto was identified.

At 6:48 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to the 1200 block of Dunbar Drive for a burglary. The homeowners heard someone in their residence. The homeowners confronted the intruder, who was identified as Giacoletto. Giacoletto stole the victim’s cellular phone before leaving.

Officers arrested Giacoletto at 7:10 p.m. in the area of Dunbar Drive and West Tayside Circle.

On Wednesday, when officers were taking Giacoletto from University Hospital and Clinics to the Boone County Jail, he spat on an officer through the cage. Officers pulled over and placed a spit shield on Giacoletto and he was released to the Boone County Jail.
