Cole County man charged with sexual misconduct and attempted robbery

A Cole County man was charged with third degree assault on a vulnerable person, first degree sexual misconduct on a vulnerable person and second degree attempted armed robbery of a vulnerable person.

Salvador Hernandez-Nevarro, 26, confronted the victim, who was mentally challenged, in an alley at 100 West Tanner Way in Jefferson City, Mo.

Hernandez-Nevarro tried to grab a bag that the victim was pulling behind her. He pushed her multiple times until she fell down. The victim eventually got up and walked to the corner of West Tanner Way and Jefferson. Hernandez- Nevarro kept pushing her while she walked down the sidewalk. He then stood in front of her, pushed her and inappropriately touched her.

Hernandez- Nevarro grabbed the victim and threw her to the ground, when she called authorities.

Authorities arrived on scene and Hernandez- Nevarro admitted to being an illegal immigrant. The victim is mentally challenged and has a guardian.
