Isolated thunderstorms by Saturday afternoon

TODAY: With the humidity on the rise, we’ll see some places hit the lower 90s for heat index values as our high reaches the upper 80s. Due to the afternoon heat, we’ll see some storms fire beyond 2 PM, mainly along and south of I-70. These storms will quickly die as we head into sunset. Winds through the day will be out of the southeast under 10 mph.

SUNDAY: The best chance for storm coverage comes as we head into Sunday. An approaching cold front along with daytime heating will help spark more storms. Once again the greatest threat for rain will be south of I-70. At this time, there is not a risk for severe weather.

EXTENDED: From Monday through Thursday night it looks like a tranquil pattern with surface high pressure building with days in the low to mid 80s and nights in the mid 60s. Right now, it is looking like the next system will move in Thursday night, bringing a chance of showers. For additional weather updates follow us @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter and like us on Facebook.
