At least 1 dead, 2 missing after plant explosion in Wisconsin

At least one person is dead and 2 known workers are still missing after a corn milling plant exploded last Wednesday night.

It happened in Cambria Village, WI around 11pm Wednesday at the Didion Milling Plant.

ABC 17 News affiliate WKOW reports at least 16 people were inside the plant at the time of the blast. Two reportedly got out safe and the others did not.

Authorities say more than one dozen are hurt, but did not specify on the extent of their injuries.

WKOW says right now the fire is contained, but crews are still trying to figure out how secure the structure is.

Live pictures from the are show the building is still smoking.

Columbia County Sheriff Dennis Richards says firefighters and ambulance services from other communities have responded and he says there have been multiple medical flights.

Cambria Village President Glen Williams told Madison station WKOW there were no evacuations in the area and there’s no threat from chemicals or fumes that he’s aware of.

There’s no word yet on if school will be impacted Thursday.
