Lake Mykee to officially become part of Holt’s Summit

The Boards of Alderman for the city of Holt’s Summit and town of Lake Mykee are expected to meet Thursday night to officially consolidate the municipalities.

After an overwhelming approval on the April ballot by both electorates, Lake Mykee leaders will sign over the deeds and all assets, officially becoming part of the city of Holt’s Summit.

“This is a culmination of over two decades of consideration,” said Holt’s Summit city administrator Rick Hess. “It has finally come to fruition and tomorrow is the final act.”

All of Lake Mykee’s assets and deeds are expected to be transferred over to the Holt’s Summit government in the coming weeks and in turn, Holt’s summit will begin providing infrastructure maintenance, collecting tax revenue and dispatching law enforcement to the small town.

Hess said the name “Lake Mykee” will remain as a title for the existing subdivision.
