Tractor trailer overturns on westbound I-70

UPDATE: 9:30 P.M.: According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report, the crash happened when an SUV got a flat tire, causing it to strike the tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer ran off the road, and returned to it before overturning around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver and passenger of the tractor trailer suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

The SUV was totaled while the tractor trailer had moderate damage.

UPDATE 5:23 P.M.: Both lanes are now open and the scene has been cleared.

UPDATE 4:50 P.M.: The left lane of westbound I-70 is now open.

ORIGINAL STORY: A tractor trailer overturned on westbound I-70 on Tuesday afternoon.

ABC 17 News reached out to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, who said that the tractor trailer is blocking both of the westbound lanes near the 141 mile marker. Reports say that there were minor injuries.

The tractor trailer was carrying kitchenware, so there is no concern for a hazardous material situation.
