One injured after shooting in Jefferson City
UPDATE 5/24 6 p.m.: Jefferson City police said they are following several leads in the investigation, but they are not releasing any new information.
One neighbor in the area told ABC 17 News she heard about five to seven gunshots around 9 p.m. Tuesday while she was trying to put her 3-year-old son to sleep.
She said she heard people having a gathering before the gunshots. She said she is used to hearing parties at different houses along McCarty Street but has never heard gunshots in the area.
ABC 17 News is working to find out the condition of the one man who was shot.
ORIGINAL: The Jefferson City Police Department is investigating a shooting at East McCarty and Lafayette streets.
Officers responded to the 600 block of East McCarty Street just after 9 p.m. Tuesday to find shell casings and a vehicle fleeing the area.
Police tried to stop the vehicle before it stopped at an area hospital.
A male shooting victim was found in the car.
