UPDATE: Crash kills one in northern Boone County

UPDATE – 5:00 p.m.: The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed the identity of the woman who died in Friday morning’s crash on Highway 63.

Troopers say 21-year-old Kimberly Schumann from Jacksonville, Missouri was killed when she lost control of her car just after 7:30 a.m.

Schumann was pronounced dead at the scene.

Leah Ensor, 22, from Holliday, Missouri and 23-year-old Jonathan Sauceda from Columbia were in the other car and were taken to University hospital with moderate injuries.

UPDATE – 10:00 a.m.: One woman is dead after a crash on Highway 63 near Highway 124 in north Boone County.

Battalion Chief Gale Blomenkamp, with the Boone County Fire Protection District, tells ABC 17 News a driver heading southbound crossed the median of the highway and into oncoming traffic.

The car collided with a car driving northbound with two occupants inside who suffered moderate injuries as a result.

The driver of the car that crossed the median was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are still working to determine why the car crossed the median.

Original Story: Right now, emergency crews are responding to reports of a crash in north Boone County.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. near Highway 63 and Highway 124.

Boone County dispatch shows at least seven emergency crews are responding to the area.

ABC 17 News has heard reports that there are injuries, but we’re still working to confirm that.

We’ll keep working to find out if traffic is impacted in the area.
