Windy Wednesday, with isolated strong storms possible

TODAY: It’s a different story this afternoon, than it has been the past few days. Today temperatures are in the mid 70s this afternoon, with very breezy conditions. It will be a windy and warm day with highs near 80 and southerly winds of 18-25 mph, gusting as high as 45 mph and lasting through 9PM tonight. We will watch for a few storms which could develop in the afternoon. If afternoon storms develop, they could become severe. Areas north of I-70 have the highest risk where large hail, strong wind and a tornado are possible. The timing at this time looks to be from 1PM-4PM in the afternoon.

TONIGHT: It looks to be dry overnight with winds becoming lighter under 10 mph by midnight. It will be mild in the mid to upper 60s under a partly cloudy sky.

EXTENDED: Thursday looks mainly dry and very warm with highs in the upper 80s and increasing storm chances in the evening. There is a Marginal Risk on Thursday where from 5PM-10PM isolated thunderstorms could develop near I-70. Periods of storms are expected Thursday night through Saturday. We’ll have to watch for the potential of a few strong or severe storms along with heavy rain. A preliminary look at rain through the end of the week indicates 1″ to 4″ possible by Saturday evening, with the highest rain totals near HWY 65. Showers could linger into Sunday morning before we dry out. Highs will be more seasonal this weekend, reaching the low 70s. Please check for updates here and on ABC17 News.
