Strong Winds Wednesday

A Wind Advisory will be valid for ALL of Mid-Missouri from 11AM through 7PM this evening. As early as 9AM however, winds could start gusting over 40 mph for those west of US 63.

A Wind Advisory means strong sustained winds of 20-30 mph is possible with winds gusting at times from 45-57 mph. I do not see winds as high as 57 mph, but up to 45 mph. These winds will impact vehicles today as strong non thunderstorm wind gusts will be widespread. Trash cans will be blown over, and lawn furniture will be knocked around if not taken inside. Minor tree and building damage can also occur. There is a chance strong wind gusts will persist through 11PM. If this is the case, the Wind Advisory time will be extended. Today is not the day for motorcycling! For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
