UPDATE: Jefferson City shooting victim identified

UPDATE 5/9 3:05 P.M.: Jefferson City police said the name of the 23-year-old Jefferson city resident who died from gunshot wounds is Taveeon D. Fowler.

Police did not release any other details about the case.

UPDATE 5/9 11:15 A.M: The victim has been identified as a 23-year-old man who died from gunshot wounds.

UPDATE: Some schools are located nearby Monroe Street.

ABC 17 News reached out to Lincoln University to see if any security protocols were changed due to the shooting. When they answered, police said they had not done anything different.

Our crews also reached out the Jefferson City Public Schools to see if security would be heightened today. One official said no, but safety and security would be a heightened awareness.

ORIGINAL: Jefferson City police confirm they’re investigating a fatal shooting.

They say it happened at 10:20 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of Monroe Street.

Details are limited right now.

Police would not say if they’ve made any arrests, have any suspect information, or if there is a public threat of any kind.

ABC 17 News is working to find out who was killed and what led up to the shooting.
