Student shows kitchen knife to teacher at Smithton in ‘threatening way’
Everyone is safe after a student displayed a kitchen knife to a teacher in a “threatening way” at Smithton Middle School on Friday.
According to a letter that was released by Principal Ed Schumacher to Smithton families, the student was “confined to one eighth grade classroom” and will face “appropriate disciplinary action.”

Dear Smithton Families:
Today we had an incident at the school. The purpose of this letter is to provide you with information and to discourage rumors.
This afternoon a student displayed a kitchen knife in a threatening manner toward a classroom teacher. The teacher and administrators quickly confiscated the knife and the incident was confined to one 8th grade classroom. Law enforcement was contacted and the student will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action.
Please know that we are taking this incident very seriously. The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the main office.
