Man charged after attacking inmate at a mid-Missouri jail

Another inmate is charged after a second reported fight at the Boone County Jail in the same week.

On Wednesday, Lamont Cooper Jr., 22, of Columbia was charged in Boone County with a felony count of third-degree assault.

Deputies say Carter punched another inmate while their back was turned to him on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a probable cause statement obtained by ABC 17 News, Cooper hit the inmate in the neck, knocking the inmate out for several seconds.

The victim received some bruising to his neck and a cut to his forehead from the attack.

It occurred a day after a different inmate was accused and charged with fighting another inmate inside the jail on Monday.

Carter is expected to appear in Boone County court Friday at 1:30 p.m. for a case review.
