Columbia man arrested for DWI, fake ID and drugs

Columbia police officers saw a black Chevrolet cobalt traveling east in the 1600 block of Broadway at 79 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.

Officers stopped the vehicle in the 2700 block of Green Valley Drive and talked to the driver, Ryan B. Williams. Williams smelled strongly of alcohol and was arrested.

While searching Williams, the officer found a plastic baggie with marijuana in Williams pocket. The officer searched Williams vehicle and found a Texas ID card with a different name and Williams date of birth. Williams is 20 years old and the Texas ID made him 21 years old.

Williams was arrested for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, manner of operation of motor vehicles, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, reproduction or alteration of identification, misdemeanor warrant for assault with a bond of $300 and minor purchase/possession of intoxicating liquors.
