Inmate charged in Boone County Jail fight

An inmate accused of attacking another inmate inside the Boone County Jail is now charged.

Darian M. Carter, 24, of Columbia, was charged in Boone County on Tuesday with a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree assault.

According to a probable cause statement obtained by ABC 17 News, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to the jail around 2:10 p.m. on Monday for a disturbance between three inmates.

Corrections officers at the jail said the victim reported that Carter came at him and that he stood up in self-defense.

The victim suffered a minor injures in the attack.

Officers said they had to use a tazer to break up the fight.

Carter was already in the Boone County Jail for unrelated felony assault charge.

He is expected to appear in court for a case review on May 10 at 1:30 p.m.
