Police respond to a motel in central Columbia, two arrests made

Police responded to the Royal Inn in central Columbia early Wednesday morning.

ABC17 first heard reports it was a hostage situation.

But crews on scene talked with officers who said it was a welfare check on a woman who was staying at the inn.

Once police arrived they found one woman and another person inside the room.

Both appeared to not be in any trouble.

However, the woman was arrested for drug paraphernalia while the other person was arrested for an active warrant.

Police have cleared the scene.
