Ameren monitors lake, river levels amid flood conditions
Engineers with Ameren Missouri utility company told ABC 17 News about 50,000 cubit feet per second of water is passing through the Bagnell Dam as of Wednesday afternoon.
“We operate under a license issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission which really dictates how we can discharge during these kind of flood events,” said Alan Sullivan, a consulting engineer for Ameren. “We monitor the lake level and the river level continuously especially during these flood events.”
Ameren officials said any adjustments they make to the amount of water that passes through the dam must be within the purview of their FERC license.
The utility company records daily updates to notify the public of increasing outflow at the Bagnell Dam, a message that can be heard by calling 573-365-9205 or by visiting Ameren’s website.
