Flash Flood Watch for another 1″ to 4″

The Flash Flood Watch will go into effect starting at 1AM Wednesday and last through 1PM on Thursday afternoon. Boone, Cole, Audrain, Callaway, Montogomery, and those south of HWY 50 can expect rain amounts of 1″ to 4″ by Thursday night.

TIMING: Rain will begin late tonight by 11PM-1AM close to the Missouri River. Rain will be on going south of I-70 on Wednesday morning before lifting to I-70 between 7AM and 9AM. Folks north of I-70 will have time in the morning to do any yard work before rain increases by 8AM-10AM to Moberly, Macon, Brunswick, and Mexico. High rain rates are expected. With the 4″ to 8″ we picked up on the 28, 29, and 30th of April, run off and saturated soil will create prolonged flooding on roads with this next significant event. Rivers will be exceeding flood levels again with most seeing Major and Moderate Flood Stages along the Missouri River at Hermann, Chamois, Jefferson City, Boonville, and Glasgow. The Gasconade River at Rich Fountain in Maries county has exceeded 2015 levels by over 2 feet as of Tuesday morning.

Rain looks to come to an end for those west of US 63 by Thursday morning. There will be additional rain ongoing east of US 63 through Thursday evening. Rain looks to finally taper off across I-44 by 7PM Thursday night. Here is the newest Rain Tracker Map. Please check with @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter for additional updates.
