Soggy Saturday weather leads to potential flooding
TODAY: It will be soggy and breezy this weekend. Heavy rain will persist for much of Saturday into early Sunday. Rain amounts could reach 3″ to 5″ in central Mid-Missouri including Columbia. There could be some locations that see near 6″ of rain across I-44. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from until 7 AM Monday due to the heavy rain threat and flooding potential. Temperatures will be mild in the lower 60s with northeast winds up to 18 mph. By late afternoon into tonight, another round of storms could produce severe weather which could lead to large hail and damaging wind.
SUNDAY: On Sunday morning this threat shifts to those east of US 63, where there is a Marginal Threat before 3PM. Rain will gradually taper off Sunday from west to east through the afternoon. High temperatures will reach near 70 degrees, with another chance for light showers to continue into Sunday night.
EXTENDED: Monday morning will start off wet as lingering light showers move off to the east along with low pressure that gave us the weekend rain. Temperatures will be below the seasonal average in the mid 50s with dry and mostly cloudy conditions the rest of Monday. We’ll warm back into the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday with a chance of showers and t-storms Wednesday. Thursday and Friday are looking dry and sunny with seasonal temperatures in the lower 70s returning.
