Maries County Sheriff offers reward to find drug dealer through Facebook post

The Maries County Sheriff posted on Facebook to let the community know about the death of a 24-year-old man from Belle Saturday morning.

The post says that Dillon Barton died of a heroin overdose in his residence Thursday evening.

Christ Heitman, the Maries County Sheriff, also wrote that Barton was a “great, young man with high ambitions.”

“Let this be a warning to the drug dealer who sold this ‘bad batch’ of heroin to this young man. I will use every legal means possible to see that you face the consequences of your actions. In fact, I am offering a $500 reward of my personal money for information leading to your arrest and conviction. I will also attempt to raise additional funds to increase that reward until you are caught,” Heitman posted.

The post had barely been up for an hour before it was updated with a higher reward.
