Flooding leaves 8 people stranded in homes in Callaway County
UPDATE: Two adults and three children have been rescued from their home in Callaway County.
Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said Jefferson City Fire Rescue used their boat to get to the family and bring them to safety. The family was evaluated by Callaway County EMS and released to other family members.
It’s not clear when the family will be able to get back to their home. The Middle River runs next to the land and is heavily flooded.
Chism said Callaway County has a handful of tributaries from other rivers that run through the area so not only local rain and flooding affects them but also rain from nearby counties as well.
