Heavy rain and flooding this weekend
TONIGHT: Rain will increase late, after 12AM across the Ozarks and move to near I-70 by early Saturday morning. The winds will pick up tonight from the northeast, gusting to 25 mph and it looks mild with lows in the upper 50s.
SATURDAY: It will be soggy and breezy this weekend. Heavy rain will persist for much of Saturday into early Sunday. Rain amounts could reach 3″ to 5″ in central Mid-Missouri including Columbia. There could be some locations that see near 6″ of rain across I-44. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from 7 PM Friday until 1 AM Monday due to the heavy rain threat and flooding potential. We’ll also need to keep an eye on strong to severe storms Friday night and again Saturday night which could produce large hail and damaging wind.
EXTENDED: On Sunday morning this threat shifts to those east of US 63, where there is a Marginal Threat before 3PM. Rain will gradually taper off Sunday from west to east through the afternoon. High temperatures will reach near 70, cooling to the mid 50s Monday with a chance of morning showers mainly north of I-70. We’ll warm back into the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday with a chance of showers and t-storms Wednesday.
