Flash Flood Watch Friday Eve through Sunday

A Flash Flood Watch will be valid starting Friday evening at 7PM through Sunday evening. Counties shaded in green will have the greatest potential for localized flash flooding with 3″ to 7″ of rain occurring. Rain looks to start up near the Ozarks 12AM-2AM early on Saturday and for Columbia and Jefferson City by 3AM-6AM. Storms in the morning on Sunday could bring damaging wind and large hail, especially to those south of HWY 50. Rain will be widespread during the day with another risk for severe storms on Saturday night.

Storms will be ongoing through Sunday. There is a Marginal Risk for severe weather on Sunday during the day through 7PM for those east of US 63. The rain chance comes to an end by Sunday evening bringing rain amounts up to 7″ near I-44, and putting Columbia in the 4″ to 5″ range from Jefferson City in the 5″ to 6″ range.

The wind will be increasing this weekend with gusts up to 35 mph during the day Saturday through Monday of next week. River levels will rapidly rise, and the Grand River at Sumner is forecast to be at a Moderate Flood Stage by Monday morning and The Grand River at Sumner will rise to a minor flood stage on Monday, so there will likely be road closures this weekend.
