Gov. Greitens to sign HB 130, would allow Uber, Lyft to freely operate
Gov. Eric Greitens is expected to sign a bill that would allow ride-sharing companies like Uber and Lyft to operate freely in our state.
Senator Bob Onder (R-Lake St. Louis) announced the bill signing Saturday on social media. He said House Bill 130, the transportation network company bill, will be signed into law by Gov. Greitens in St. Charles County Monday.
“I am pleased to welcome Governor Greitens to my home county, St. Charles County, to sign this bill that will create thousands of new jobs in our state. I commend my colleagues who came together to approve a state-wide transportation network company framework by overwhelming bipartisan majorities in the Missouri Senate 30-1 and House 144-7. Now companies such as Uber and Lyft can operate freely in every county in Missouri,” Sen. Onder, who is the senate sponsor and handler of the bill, said.
Gov. Greitens released the following statement Sunday:
“Our top priority is creating more jobs with higher pay for the people of Missouri. Services like Uber and Lyft allow people to work and earn extra cash on their own schedule. It’s important that we stand up to special interests and support anyone looking to work.”
The public is invited to attend the bill signing. It’s scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Community College in the social sciences building.
