Salisbury man dies in railroad crossing crash

A Salisbury man has died after a fatal crash at a railroad intersection in Chariton on Thursday afternoon.

William E. Thomson, 36, from Salisbury, was driving a case farm tractor when he failed to yield at the railroad crossing. The train, a 2012 Norfolk Southern Railway General Electric Locomotive, hit Thomson.

Thomson was pronounced dead by the Chariton County coroner.
