Rain update and weekend forecast

A storm system will slowly move through Arkansas tonight sending waves of rain into southern and central Missouri through early Saturday. Heaviest rain will fall south of HWY 50 with 1-3 inches possible through Saturday. Areas close to and south of I-44 could see 4 inches of rain with possible localized flooding.

Areas north of HWY 50 will see brief periods of light rain but rainfall amounts will be much lower with forecast amounts of near .75″ close to Jefferson City to only .20″ near Columbia and trace amounts north.

Skies will start to clear Saturday morning in our northwestern counties which will lead to warmer temperatures as highs reach the upper 50s to near 60. Areas farther south will take longer to see sunshine and it will be cooler. High temperatures Saturday afternoon will range from near 50 near I-44 to near 60 near HWY 24. Northeast winds will continue at 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph at times.

As skies clear Saturday night, temperatures will dip into the upper 30s to low 40s by Sunday morning. Sunshine will quickly warm temperatures into the 60s by Sunday afternoon with a light northerly breeze, making for a pleasant April day.
