Trial date moved in mid-Missouri trooper’s death

The trial date for a Mexico, Missouri, man accused of killing a Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper in 2015 has been moved.

Audrain County Prosecutor Jacob Shellabarger told ABC 17 News on Wednesday the trial for Serghei Comerzan will start next month.

Jury selection is slated to start on Friday, May 19, at the St. Charles County Courthouse.

The trial will continue on Monday, May 22, through Friday, May 26.

Judge Ted House will oversee the trial.

Comerzan is accused of speeding on his motorcycle on Aug. 28, 2015, while trying to outrun Trooper James Bava.

Bava died when his patrol cruiser crashed near the Audrain County line.
