Three men arrested after deputies patrol crime hot spot

Three men are behind bars in Callaway County after sheriff deputies patrolled a known crime hot spot on Highway 94, just outside Jefferson City limits.

The three men were taken into custody during traffic stops in the area and were arrested on charges ranging from illegal possession of a weapon and drug charges.

Deputies were conducting saturation patrol of the area after learning there might be a large gathering there. Deputies say the area has been known for disturbances and criminal activity in the past several months, including two shootings.

Jevon Hawkins, 27, of Columbia, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm. Hawkins posted his bail of $4,500.

Demetrius Robinson, 20, of Florissant, was arrested on a Cole County felony warrant on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Robinson was charged with an offense in Cole County on Thursday, as the result of a Lincoln University police investigation. Robinson posted his bail of $5,000.

Darius Davis, 23, of Jefferson City, was arrested on a Cole County warrant for making a false report and several traffic violations.
