Route 54 reopens in Miller County after suspicious item found

UPDATE: Route 54 is now back open. Sergeant Scott White with the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirms they were investigating a suspicious device. The device was determined to be a consumer electronic device.

ORIGINAL: There is a police emergency that will close down eastbound and westbound Route 54 between Route 242 and Route W in Miller County.

ABC 17 reached out to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, who confirmed that an “item” was found.

The closure is expected to last for four hours.

Drivers can take Route 242 and Business Route 54 as a detour.

ABC 17 is working to find out more about the emergency.
