Heavy police presence on Stadium and College Park, three detained

UPDATE, 2:00 p.m.: Columbia police were called to the 1700 block of Oxford Drive at 10:55 Tuesday morning for a report of a trespassing with a gun.

About 20 minutes after the call came in, Russell Boulevard School was notified of the incidents and officers closed the roadway at College Park and Stadium.

Police said they were not able to make contact with anyone inside the home and used the CPD “bear cat” to assist.

Once the “bear cat” got to the scene, a man and a woman came out of the home without incident at 11:42 p.m.

Russell Boulevard Elementary was notified that the scene was secure at 12:14 p.m.

The investigation revealed the call originally came in from a third party.

On the scene, officers determined a weapon was not brandished and no one was threatened with a weapon.

There were no arrests made and officers cleared the area at 12:33 p.m.

UPDATE: The scene has been cleared.

ORIGINAL STORY: Stadium at College Park has been closed due to a police emergency.

An incident on Oxford Drive has resulted in three people being detained for questioning. There was possibly one person being held against their will.

There is no set time for the closure, but drivers should try and take an alternate route.

SWAT was also on scene and said that the people they detained came out peacefully. ABC 17 is on scene and working to confirm more details.
