Drought improves this week

The active weather pattern we have seen since the last week of March has brought much needed rainfall to Mid-Missouri and improved our drought situation. Rainfall for the month of March came in slightly above average at 3.21″ and currently we are just under an inch and a half for April which is also above the average of .76″ for April 6. The 30 year average for the entire month is 4.49″.

The latest Drought Monitor which was released April 4 shows improvement since last week. Currently most of Mid-Missouri is classified as abnormally dry with an area west of HWY 63 still considered in a moderate drought as well as just north of I-44. This latest report does not take into consideration the rain we had April 4-5th.

The outlook through the April 20th gives us up to a 33-50% probability of above average rainfall as storm systems continue to move in periodically along with above average temperatures.
