Culvert repairs approved for Sinclair Road in Columbia

The Columbia city council held a public hearing and approved some major work in the southwest part of the city Monday night.

The $400,000 project will repair storm pipes on Sinclair Road by Mill Creek Elementary School.

The current storm water pipes under the road are regularly clogged up by debris washed down from Mill Creek.

Last spring, utility crews even found an eight-foot hole forming under the road.

The replacement design outlines plans to accommodate future roads and trails.

Construction will last between four to six weeks and will cause the closure of Sinclair Road.

The project is expected to work around summer school and be completed before the start of the 2017-18 school year.
