Crime scene tape blocking entrance to Eagle Stop

UPDATE 9:00 a.m.: The Eagle Stop on Providence Road , the Waffle House on Vandiver Drive and the Break Time on Nebraska Avenue were all open by 4 a.m. Sunday.

Some crime scene tape remained near the Eagle Stop.

According to Columbia police dispatch records, police first responded to the Waffle House around 1:15 a.m. for a traffic stop. Police responded to the Waffle House again to check an open business around 1:30 a.m.

Police first responded to the Break Time for a traffic stop around 1:25 a.m., according to dispatch records.

There were no dispatch records shown for the police presence at the Eagle Stop.

ORIGINAL: Crime scene tape is blocking the entrance to the Eagle Stop in Central Columbia.

Around 1:50 a.m. Sunday, an ABC 17 News reporter saw a police car blocking Nebraska Ave, as well as three police cars at the Waffle House.

As of 2:30 a.m. Sunday, ABC 17 News no longer saw an active police presence at the Eagle Stop, but the crime scene tape still remained at the entrance. The lights at all the gas pumps are also shut off.

This comes after fight at the Eagle Stop two weeks ago followed by a triple shooting in Northwest Columbia that left two people dead. Police have not said if the incidents are related.

ABC 17 News is working to find out more and will continue to update this story.
